Swiss Bruno sounds like a persons Porn name (Mothers maiden name & Your first pet) but Swiss Kickers and Bruno FC showed that they had the stamina to go all the way in Footy Japan's first tournament of the year.
On a Glorious sunny day at YCAC, 16 teams battled hard to win our famous trophies and medallions.
11th June 2016 was the date. A Division 1 TML13 game. The venue was YC&AC and El Diego were the opposition. 5-3 victors and it gave Imperio enough points to keep them in Division 1.
Since then they had failed to win any matches in the league or Cup. That was until 16th December 2017 and the 17th weekend of TML15....
The big match of the weekend saw Hibernian FC take on table toppers FC International.
The game started off a bit like a Cup Final. Cagey with both teams almost sparring with each other. It was all square at the break. The 2nd half saw Mike McKenna give Hibs an early lead. The momentum of play tipped towards the Hibs and they did what they do best. Punish teams...
Not sure where to start with this weeks FJ TOTW. Guess we should look at some worthy contenders first. BFC Tokyo for being the first team to take points off Hibs this season, Kanto Celts for hitting 10 past Imperio and Albion Old Boys scoring 6 past the usual solid Vags defence.
Two stand out results from the weekends matches. Zion defeated Kanto Celts 6-1 lifting them off the foot of the table and into 7th spot. The other result saw Barbarians lose for the first time this season after 5 successive victories.
So Lions FC win this weeks award. Having played Barbarians last week I know how much of a good attacking team they are. Lions seemed to deal with this well by going ultra offensive. Matsunami scored 2, Matsuura, Imai and Omar...
Many players in the league often turn up, get changed, play, pay and then leave. They may not even think about the effort it takes to run a Club. The organization, collecting club fees, player dropouts and all the emails. For one club, Swiss Kickers, the last issue was never a problem when the club was founded in 1977. On Saturday the club celebrated it's 40th year. They booked out the afternoon at YCAC and a TML match was arranged which was followed by a 3 team...
