PLAYER PROFILE

TML Interview - September 26th 2017

If you have ever played or watched Sala FC play then you would have certainly heard this man shouting at the oppostion, the ref or at his own players. In recent years he has found the love of his life and he has mellowed. Not a single booking last season has made him the ultimate gentlemen on and off the pitch.

Name: Scott Thomson without a 'p'!

Nationality: Scottish

Team: Sala FC

Position: Midfield No.8

Number of years in the TML? 13. Even though i'm not yet 30!

What do you like about the TML? A great network of people playing the sport we all love.  Bromance-tastic too!

Which player would you compare your style too? Terry Hurlock.  A curly-headed combative midfielder.  His favourite colours were yellow and red.

What is the highest level of football you have played at? TML matches against Hibs.

Have you ever played for any other TML teams? If so who and how did you end up playing for Sala FC? Shogun Knights, King George and Shane F.C.  Dan 'The Man' Bard got me playing for Shogun Knights 13yrs ago, then we both switched full-time to Sala when Shogun Knights disbanded.  Good mates on King George and Shane!

What makes your club special? Sala F.C. are like a family to me.  We socialise a lot away from the pitch; Hanabi, Hanami, bbqs, poker n footy nights and basically any excuse to get smashed together! Forever Sala.

Where was your first ever TML match and what are your memories? Oi-Futo.  I'm a Rangers fan, so I couldn't believe I was playing in a green strip.  Think we won.

Favorite TML venue and why? Zo Zo Park. Best surface and there's a Hub nearby for drinks afterwards.  Free showers to boot (pun intended).

Best player you have played with? Fuyuki Nakatani.  Everything you want in a midfielder; great first touch, amazing passing range, cannon of a shot, delicate in the box with dinks and chips flung in, AND strong in the air, the tackle and the engine room.  Added to which, thighs like tree-trunks!  Top lad as well.

Best player you have faced? Shosuke Yamagishi from B.F.C. and now Kanto Celts.  The eternal goal-machine!  Speed, skill, finishing, trickery of all kinds (good and bad), but just a nightmare to face. Had to bring him down soooo many times as he was usually unplayable.  Surprisingly strong too.  Good guy off the pitch as well, so hats off to him as he must be in with a shout for all-time TML top scorer?  Haha, that's one for you and Sid to research. Special mention to the ex-pros: Rob Atkinson, Pete Swinney and Neil Murphy.

FJ: Shosuke is ceretainly up there in terms of an all time top scorer. Sid is now busy looking for the official record books!

Who is your best mate in the team? Oooh, so many to choose from!  A tough one indeed.  Toby Long; been playing, drinking and seeking mischief together for over a decade! Long may it continue.

Funniest moment before, during or after a TML match? My mate, Roddy Charles, pulled his hamstring and got excited at the same time. His shorts looked like a small tent  I delighted in pointing this out to everyone including Kazu, the referee, thankfully no booking for a change, just a top giggle at Roddy's expense.  Roddy changed his name to Eric Sean afterwards by deed poll.

Any other comments? Big thanks to TML for providing a service that brings so many people together in Kanto.  Also, to Guido Geisler and Lenny Tui of Sala; they've put a lot of effort into making Sala my favourite team in the world.
