Robert Walters Team of the Week (May 22)
Announcements -
Team of the Week goes to Pumas FC for their win over Zion FC!
Zion FC were in a prime position to win the league, with one game less played than first place hibs and 3 points behind. All they needed to do was to win their remaining games and it would come down to the fixture between Zion and Hibs. However, Pumas had no intention of giving anyone free wins. They were coming off a close game against Hibs (tying 1-1) and wanted more.
As expected from any game between the top teams, the game was a fierce one. Zion's star striker and golden boot contender, Takuma Ueyama scored two goals.
However, it was the combined effort of Pumas that prevailed. Veterans Christian Romero, Yuma Hirayasu scored a goal each with relatively new Fabrizio Lasaponara also scoring one. A true hallmark of a TML team, with a consistent core and a sprinkle of new faces gelling together.
This loss delivered by Pumas is a devastating blow to Zion FC as it puts them in a very tricky situation to win the league. They still have a game against Hibs but even if Zion win against Hibs it would only tie them in points. Which means it would go to goal difference but judging from the current stats, it would be very difficult for Zion to surpass Hibs. Zion need to win against their game against Hibs and also hope that Hibs draw/lose a game else where.
Congratulations to Pumas FC for winning the Robert Walters Team of the week!
