More than just a finals

Footy Japan Cup -

What a peculiar ESR FJ Cup and Plate finals we have this season.

On one end, Division 2 title contenders Zion vs Teranga, on the other, Division 1 title contenders Hibernian vs Yeboiz. Yet it is the Division 1 title contenders that are playing in the plate final and the Division 2 title contenders playing in the cup!

Hibs were knocked into the plate by St Luxum, “they surprised us” said the Hibs captain tipping their hats to St Luxums performance. Yeboiz were knocked into the plate by VJ Bridge. Both the new teams that joined the TML managed to take out a Division 1 title contender.

Teranga beat Jetro, Pumas, Clash, Eastern Capital to get into the finals. That's 3 Division 1 teams knocked out by them.

Zion had a polar opposite (easy) road to the finals. They beat YCAC Pulse, Sagarmatha, Revengers, and St Luxun. 3 out of those 4 wins were determined in penalty shootouts. Their last win against St Luxum was followed by 25 total penalties taken between the two teams to end the game 13-12 for Zion.

So if the Cup finals goes to a draw, it might be best to place your bets onto Zion as they've been through the pressure of winning the shootout.

Interesting to note, the finalists have 1 win and 1 loss against each other in the league. Hibs beat Yeboiz at 2-1 at BST... YeBoiz beat Hibs 2-0 at Redsland. Zion beat Teranga 3-0 at Hachioji, Teranga beat Zion 4-1 at YC&AC.

So the finals is settling more than just the cup/plate winners... it is settling the overall head to head results between them and the ultimate bragging rights over each other!

The cup and plate finals will take place on May 31st at YCAC. 11:10 will be the plate finals, 12:45 will be the cup finals!
