2025 Samurai 7's huge success
FJC News -
Despite a rare April snowfall just days before kickoff, the 2025 Samurai 7’s launched under perfect, sunny skies — and the tournament couldn’t have gone better! We were thrilled to welcome back crowd favourites like Shenzen International, French Krauts, Swiss Kickers, and FM FC, while also debuting an exciting mix of new talent. With over 20 teams from Australia, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Hong Kong, and beyond, this year’s Samurai 7’s was one for the books.
Tanah Merah were unstoppable in the group stages — undefeated and without conceding a single goal. They stormed through the knockout rounds and into the finals, where they faced Shenzen International, the reigning O35 champs. Shenzen had also swept their group games, though with narrower wins. The final clash was intense, with both sides pushing hard. In the end, Shenzen International edged it with the only goal of the match, defending their title in dramatic fashion. In the O40’s Cup, Shenzen International FC once again proved why they’re the team to beat, claiming back-to-back victories and solidifying their dominance.
The Plate Division saw a Cinderella story unfold. Local side Union Pacifico, after losing all their group matches, turned things around spectacularly to reach the final against British Football Club Tokyo. The final was fierce and physical, ending 2-2 in regulation. In extra time, BFC Tokyo struck twice to claim the Plate title.
The O50’s Cup showcased the consistent excellence of two Samurai 7’s mainstays: FJ Masters and Swiss Kickers. Both teams went undefeated in their groups, securing final berths before even facing each other. They chose to turn their Day 2 matchup into a friendly, saving energy for the big finale. The final was a clear win for Swiss Kickers, who outpaced a fatigued FJ Masters to defend their title in style — having won the O45’s last year.
A huge thank you to all the teams who made this year so special. With the perfect weather and top-tier football, 2025 Samurai 7’s was a spectacular success. We hope you all had an amazing time — see you next year!
